Moving party

Got the whole house painted...pictures are coming.
Mom got in tonight.
Message is close to ready for the weekend.
Saturday at 9am we are moving.
We'll be done by 11am.
We'd love the help.
Our new place is literally 30 seconds from this place so it will be a breeze to move.
Let me know if you plan on comin' so I can get the appropriate amount of donuts and Sunny D!
It's just not a move without donuts and Sunny D...it gives you solar energy...and that's good for the environment :)

Paint and politics

That's my life this week.
Paintin' my house.
Speaking about the political elephant in the church on Sunday.
Blogs might be sparse.

what in the world?

I just found out last week that it was the world series.
Phillies and Tampa Bay...seriously?
I did not watch one full game this season...crazy.
Baseball used to be my life.
It doesn't help that I have rabbit ears that pick up two stations.
I'm catching the end of the game tonight but honestly I could care less.
What happened to me?

the curse of the keys

remember the post where I was talking about the simplicity of keys?
Yeah...I'm not that guy any more.
Now I have keys to:
Bechelli campus
2 keys to Eureka campus
new house
old house
mail
vespa
echo
vue
bike lock
church office
what happened?
Keys come with responsibility.
When you plant a church and don't have a lot of money and have the keys you:
Drive to the Naz with Nate on Saturday night at 8pm...
grab painting, mics, keyboard, drums, monitor, and mic stand...
take it to Eureka campus...
repeat next week!
We're trying to figure something out...
Anyone want my key? I'm willing to give it up :)
What do your keys say about you?

Back at it...

It's quite possible that Alyssa and I have put the contents of our lives in boxes more than any other people on the planet. We've been married 9 years...this is going to be dwelling #8 for us!
Wow. We have it down to a science.
It's all about paint colors. I think I love to move because I love to completely change the look of a house. It's the HGTV in me...dirty little secret.
Party at my new place in a couple weeks...stay tuned!

Did that just happen???

Did I just go into a title company and sign papers to move into a house this Monday?
Daniel (our agent) was showing us houses two weeks ago...
We were on our way home when I motioned to him to roll down his window...
There was one other house he had talked about that we decided to look at for kicks...
We loved it...
It was a short sale...
We have had a bid on another short sale for 3 months...
This one was different...
It already had an accepted offer...
This house had to get picked up or it was going to the bank November 1st...
We got it...
We get keys Monday...
What the heck!!!??!
I'm stoked!

I miss my family

Tonight I watched the Redding fireworks for the first time. They got postponed because of the fires earlier this year. They were amazing...hands down...best fireworks I've seen!
But it was bitter sweet.
I wasn't holding Zeke in my lap for them.
Fireworks and Zeke have a love / hate relationship.
He will scream and yell and punch you in the face and put his hands over his ears and shake uncontrollably during the fireworks but the minute they are over he will talk about them till next July 4th. If you don't know my son this might sound weird.
There were tons of kids around and I would of loved to have my family there.
Instead I was sitting next to the Gafners and a lady that was having an interactive worship service during the show. My favorite line to come out of her mouth was, "Father God, America blesses you with our fireworks...praise Jesus!"
I seriously can't make stuff like that up...ask the Gafners...classic.
Come home family...I miss you!

No voice

Literally none.
Give me a call...you'll crack up.
I led worship for homecoming weekend at Simpson today...not good timing.
Living the single life is crazy.
I think all the single people I know are lazy!
I had the most productive day of my life yesterday without my family.
I think I'd be 400% more efficient if I was single.
God knows what he's doing.
I'd be a mess without my family.
But seriously single peeps...step it up...quit telling me your busy!
Get on it! (If you've ever heard me say that then you know the southern twang you're supposed to hear when its said).
Just kidding.
Enjoy singleness.
Keep margin in your life.
Jesus was single...he's pretty cool.

8 hours...

...of uninterrupted sleep last night!
Alyssa and the kiddies made it safe to Riverside.
My bachelor schedule is filling up...
Work on music
Poker night
Lead worship for Simpson homecoming weekend
Fireworks
Hot tub
Promote a concert

I feel like I have to fill every minute of my day because I have no clue how to handle myself without my family around me all day.

The bachelor

The wife and kiddies are heading to Riverside tomorrow. They are going to be down there till Monday. I've contemplated getting into some sweats and sleeping till they come back in the door. I'm bummed I'm not getting down to the ol' rivercity but I'm looking forward to rest.

Haven't posted about the new campus we planted on Sunday yet...it was awesome...lots of work...but amazing.

I'm down a pound for the beard challenge.

We put an offer on a house today. I'll give more details as they come. Here's a pic.

Pics of the kiddies

It's been a while...cutest kids ever...it's not up for discussion!

Talked to my buddy Jeremy today

One of the most talented dudes I have the privilege of calling a friend.
Go listen to his new music...it's amazing!
I'm really proud of you dude.
There's a possibility of a Redding and Riverside show with him and The Listening in November. I'll keep you posted.

Last day

Can't believe we have our first gathering at our new campus tomorrow!
Nate and I met with Bill Randall yesterday at Sue's...it's a monthly meeting that I really look forward to...Bill is amazing.
He told us that he was proud of us and encouraged us.
I think he feels like a grandpa that played a huge role in giving birth to the Stirring and is now seeing the first Stirring offspring.
He said you can't ever be fully prepared for something new...there are things that will come up that you can't predict until you're in it...we were sharing our extreme level of freakoutness...I found some comfort in that.
I have no idea what to expect.
Sean and Rebecca, Nate, me and the launch team?
300 people from other churches with issues that will probably have the same issues with us?
100 people that don't know God yet?
The anticipation is killing me.
I've been praying for tomorrow and the new people that will be coming into our Life Groups...can't wait.
If you don't have a church that you call home come hang with us tomorrow at 10am.

The Green Bible

I see Christian at Simpson yesterday and he busts this out of his bag and gives it to me.
It's the Green Bible...amazing
Manufactured using paper with ten percent post-consumer content. The Bible is printed with soy-based inks. The all-natural 100% cotton/linen cover material is produced in a green friendly environment (all air is purified before exhausting into the atmosphere and all water is purified and recycled.)
Essays in the front by:
Desmund Tutu, Saint Francis of Assisi, Wendall Berry, N.T. Wright, Pope John Paul II, Brian McClaren, Matthew Sleeth, etc.
Every passage (over 1000) in the scriptures that talks about the earth and God's care for all creation is in green.
The back has a resource guide that talks about issues like health, land conservation, practical steps a church and family can take to get started, and a bunch of great websites.
You're the man Christian...thanks dude...this Bible is awesome.
Keep it green kiddies!
Remember...God is a tree hugger!

IKEA, Guitar Center, and the Apple Store

All in one day.
Heaven on earth.
Why the heck do you have to drive three hours to get there?
Church plant is almost ready!
3 days left...I just threw up a little in my mouth!

How to cap a long day

Come home from a long day at work...
Meet your wife in the driveway with the kids loaded in the car...
Jump out of your car to join them and go look at potential houses...
Have your kids freak out inside potential houses...
Drive home while kids freak out in the car...
Get home and realize something sounds weird...
Look over and realize that your other car is running...
Look in the window and realize you locked your car...
With your car running...
Realize you don't have a spare key...
Realize your car has been running with the doors locked for two hours...
Realize Life Group is at your house in an hour...
Call oldest friend in the world who used to be a lock smith...Thanks Aaron...
He tells you to call someone with triple A...
Call Nate...Thanks dude...I owe you...That's worth at least 14 iced caramel macciato's...
Get car opened as people are walking into my house for Life Group...
Can you tell my mind is a little mushy right now...
Lesson...
Turn your car off when you get out and take the keys out of the ignition before you lock doors!
Long day.

Seriously...no call Rob???!!?

How did this sneak up on me?
That's it Rob...I'm calling off chillin' at Starbucks tomorrow.
How dare you put out a new book without letting me know.
My birthday is April 21st if anyone wants to get me an early present.

The beard challenge

Every Monday morning I'm comin' with an update.
Last week: 177.0
Today: 176.0
I contemplated chugging some Metamucil with prune juice and coffee just so I could see 175 on the scale for the first time in a long time...maybe tomorrow! 175 was the original goal but now I want to see 165 before the beard comes off. It's goin' slow but it's goin'.
Next week I want to weigh in at 173...it's on!

Thoughts from last night at the Stirring

Go here.

How did you know Pandora?

This is going to become a reoccurring post from RevRock.
First of all if you don't live in the land of Pandora you need to crawl out from the rock you've been living under...throw away all your 8 tracks...stop all your weekend projects on your El Camino...and go put together some sweet internet radio love!
Pandora is always on at our house. Now it might have to share time with Genius from my itunes library...Thanks TJ...like I needed more choices of amazing playlists.
At least three times a day you'll hear me say, "How in the world did you know Pandora?"
This morning it was, "How in the world did you know I needed to hear that bass line from "Jenny was a friend of mine" by the Killers? Amazing.
It's like we're in this weird cyber relationship and it knows me.
As I'm writing this post Alyssa came down the stairs with Moses and the song "Moses" by Coldplay came on.
Seriously if I go to take a photo booth picture of myself right now and "I'm too sexy" by Right Said Fred comes on I'm gonna lose it!

13 years later to the day

How crazy is that?

Popcorn

Just spent the evening owning the popcorn ceiling at the Gafners new house. Two huge rooms, hallway, entry way and two bedrooms...owned! It all came down super easy except for a 3x5 stretch that was applied to the ceiling by Satan himself!
It was fun seeing Sean and Rebecca so excited about their first house. I remember the same feelings.
Can't believe I have to wait a year till I get to use their pool though...bummer.

Long day

After work headed out to the new campus on Eureka way and set up sound equipment.
It's gonna sound awesome in there. Sean and the kiddos helped us get everything out there...thanks dude.
John Culp is the sound genius that helped make everything happen...you're the mvp dude!
Got home late...missed the vp debate.
Was it any good?
The presidential debate was a snooze in my opinion...no one willing to recognize there's kind of a lot going on in our country right now.
I'm tired...it's gonna be a long weekend.

The 777th post

The perfect number...
I need to write the perfect post...
Too much pressure...
I'm not sure Jesus cares about my blog...
My posts have sucked for a couple weeks...I apologize
Hang in there till after October 12th...
The church plant has officially turned my brain to oatmeal...with raisins...and slices of banana.
If Kirk Cameron was a ghost writer for my blog he would write an amazing 777th post...
Speaking of amazing acting...
Does anyone have The Omega Code II on Blue Ray?
I hear it will blow your mind in HD!
Thus ends the perfect post.

The downtown eatery

I know Nate already pimped this place but I gotta add my two cents.
My buddy Paul David is managing this place called the Downtown Eatery.
Do yourself a favor and go. Open till 4pm during the week. Friday and Saturday nights.
The food and service is amazing.
I told Paul I was posting a blog and to prepare for a line out the door today so don't let me down.
