should we care about what goes on in our country. totally. should be care more about the souls of the lost? absolutely. when the heart of man is transformed by Christ, then true "change" and true "hope" arrive. God is sovereign. the Saints will persevere.

I listened to your message and here are a couple of points, not arguments, but points.
#1- I have had some of the most thought provoking and challenging discussions with my brethren during this election. Just because we disagree and debate does not mean that we are always divided and given over to Satan's power. I believe more than anything, we have sacrificed political and intellectual DEBATE to the psuedo-religion of political correctness. It is okay to disagree and discuss and challenge. That is important. It helps us see the other side and NOT demonize them. I think Obama and his policies are dead wrong. But I love my family members and friends who support him. But, we still talk about our differences and we still drink wine together, hang out and love each other. I don't know what is going on out there in Cali, but we are cool here on the east coast. :-)
#2- Along the same lines...don't give too much power to the enemy. The Westminster shorter catechism tells us that enemy's power has come to nothing. Is he present yes, but he cannot destroy us. The church is triumphant. As Josh said, the saints will persevere.
So, how do we have differing opinions and yet remain humble? Are people too sensitive these days? I have had some people in my church seriously take me to task because I supported Ron Paul. But, each Sunday I still go to church with them, worship and eat the Lord's supper together. I admire people with a passionate opinion, even if it differs from mine. I even learn a thing or two from time to time.
Also, would you mind clarifying what you meant by giving power to those marginalized by power. ARe you talking in a spiritual sense or a political sense?
One more thing....then I will shut up. As much as God despises greed, he also despises TAKING!!! (8th commandment) So, socialism, spreading the wealth, redistribution, whatever you want to call is just as crappy as greed. God loves a cheerful giver, right? Not a giver under compulsion.
Wait, sorry, one more thing. I totally agree that we serve one King...the KING...Jesus Christ. Doug Wilson said on his blog regarding this election, "God is still Father, Christ is still at His right hand, and the Holy Spirit is still abroad in the world, recreating that world according to the image of Christ. When the nations conspire against Him, He laughs at them." God is in control. And, he loves us! Yeah! We are so blessed. We serve a perfect King and we know that his way is always right and victorious and that his church will triumph.
