Could of just been words but my kids were glued for half an hour! It's sayin' something if he can hold their attention. We'll have it on when McCain throws down. We'll see if he has the same impact. No comments about me rockin' the sweet rabbit ear antenna behind the tv.

I'm learning this is what it's about...
I don't have children... but when I do.. I know that I have to be sensitive.. because they will be excited for the same things I get excited about... I need to make sure I don't lead them the wrong direction.. It's awesome to see you orchestrate that in your children.
of course... McCain is gonna dominate... haha
Go McCain!!!
I'm mostly going for him cause he isn't a fan of Karl Marx
No worries about the rabbit ears, in fact I have a very similar setup - when you can get lots of free hd over the air with those things ain't no shame
I watched TMZ. I love that Harvey Levin guy. "I'm a lawyer"...'cracks me up.
didn't watch the speech, but got the wrap up on the today show....wow. the government is going to take care of us from cradle to grave. who needs dads? and, even more so, who needs god? what could make the church more "irrelevant"...i say healthy dose of obama-style socialism. look what it has done in europe.
Regarding Leslie's comment:
So, the government should do nothing to help improve the lives of veterans, the poor, the displaced, and the working-class, and that is supposed to generate a collective American "need" for God? I disagree with your suggestion that a need for God and a need for government assistance are mutually exclusive.
And I would point out that in his speech, Obama expressly challenged parents (fathers specifically) to take responsibiliy for the education and care of their children, and not to rely on the government for said education.

I don't think the government should replace God nor should it ignore the needs of the less fortunate. I have traveled to 3rd world countries and have seen what happens to disadvantaged folks who have an uncaring government. It is horrific. WE are blessed to live in a nation that has been so deeply affected by the gospel and does care for the less fortunate. But, I believe, it can be too far reaching.
When we view the government as the sustainer and the "hope"...we as Christians, have missed the mark. Socialism would work if man were inherently good, but we know that he is not. He is inherently evil and in need of a savior. That savior is Jesus Christ, not the government. Giving people hand outs from cradle to grave does nothing to help someone get out of poverty. It creates a vicious cycle of generational poverty. I think that is fairly self-evident.
All this talk of change is sounding like a lot more of the same stuff that doesn't work. And, it is not just government to blame. The church has given up it's job in caring for the poor, education and social outreach and just let the government take the reigns. Our church history is rich with examples of social justice (such as educating ex-slaves and starting hospitals). I hope the church (and I am seeing glimmers of hope here...) gets it's vision back and doesn't just rely on government to get things done. I am sure if you have had any experience with the social security office or the dmv...they aren't too effecient.
"some may trust in horses and some may trust in chariots, but we will remember the name of the Lord" ps 20:7 NO matter how mighty or rich or compassionate a government it is, it is flawed and God is our only hope for humanity.
oh, and I am no mccain supporter...this is going to be a difficult election to vote in with any type of clear conscience.
Obama "says" a lot of stuff...
Like I asked Dan...
What is Obama's take on Foreign Policy? Health Care? Immigration?
Obama says a lot of "we need........ yada yada yada...... I can do the same thing... but I need to provide answers and not a lecture right?
For example... on serious issues he likes to describe himself as someone who is sub-par.... Interestingly enough.. our current president said something similar in regards to how people spend their money.... Did anyone catch that one a few weeks ago?.. And if you did, did you get all wrapped up around it like everyone else who hates Bush..
Can anyone enlighten me beyond Obama's "inspirational" speeches.. Obama himself can't.. and trust me.. I've been listing for the last 3 years....Every intelligent person in America can see through his "Kennedy" mask.. For some reason everyone that is "Pro" Obama seems to think he's going to establish more than anyone in the history of our nation, with a track record of zilch..
As far as the Government helping.... We need to make sure we are educated about what our Government has established first and foremost..They are helping! If you don't think so....You are speaking from the standpoint of "entitlement" ...
Take the unemployment rate... it's lowest rate anytime in history was under Clinton at about 3.8%.. But just like the president during the Gold Rush....that would be Clinton during the .COM Boom.... And he tries to take credit for it.. haha... just like Gore when he makes statements reffering to himself as the Einstein of the internet.. and then we have Bush... If Bush was so horrible the unemployment rate might have triumphed what Carter left to Reagan at 13%.. But I'm sure nobody pays any attention to those kinds of things..
Of course truth be told... CNN just announced who was the "slugger" for the housing plunge....... and your winner is......Bill Clinton.. I guess he shouldda "Googled" the details on Wikipedia before he signed the Bill..... pardon the pun..
And did you see McCains VP pick?..... Man, I feel sorry for Biden...

Well said...
I grew up on welfare, lived in a very poor neighborhood... As an adolescent I watched people tweak and neglect their babies.. on any given day you would see little babies walking the streets with nobody in sight, wearing what had to have been a 4 or 5 day old diaper, covered in dirt and crying for food while her mother and father were pasted out drunk or on drugs.. You can still find that happening today in that exact neighbor hood..
We live in a gimmie gimme "entitlement" society..I guess when you see the homeless man on the street Jaime, you should tell him not to worry... "the govenment" is going to solve all his problems... Let him know that it's gonna happen because they are going to do so by taking it out of your pocket.. through your efforts down avenues like.... hard work... educational opportunities... taxes... If you believe in adoption, go adopt a helpless child... Not a full grown man who neglects the opportunities he has just like anyone else... Don't get me wrong.. I believe in helping the poor.. demonstrating Jesus and fighting for those that need "help"... But if someone is going to take advantage of it as a moocher.. that's when I make a stand...
Jesus never said.. help the "moocher"..
looks like with Obama as President it's going to be hip to poor..
Of course with all Obama's claptrap and hypnotizing speeches he himself admits he is under qualified but kindly asks for your sympathy .
Regarding the war... Biden screams McCain was wrong and Obama was right...
uh.... Biden needs to educate himself..
Can you say "Surge"......... I'm not even gonna give you the answer.. go look it up.. I'll give you a hint.. Obama voted against it.. Biden voted for it..
