Something new for 2008

For most of my life I have read through the Bible with a check list mentality. I used to get stickers in class when I'd finish portions of it. I've read through the Bible quite a few times. Straight through, Chronologically, Yearly Bible, randomly. It's crazy that it took me 30 years to start seeing the Bible as a story but it has changed everything in my reading. Everything connects, there are no isolated stories. It's a narrative, start to finish. We find our story within the story. Context is king, and the Old Testament is essential for the New Testament.
Anyways, this year I'm going through one of those reading plans that give you some Old Testament and some New Testament to read every day. Right now I'm reading parts of Genesis, Matthew, and Psalms. I stumbled across this website yesterday and it sets you up with a pretty good plan. I know this has been out there forever but I've never done it. Has anyone ever read through the Bible this way? It's a little confusing because you are reading all over the place, but I like the fact that you get insights into different parts of the story every day.
I feel a need to get the content from the scriptures in me on a yearly basis. I'm a pretty undisciplined dude in this area of my life and plans like this help me. Anyone else trying to read through the story this year?

I am.

I like the plan you propped here. A friend referred me recently to this plan, or rather, multitude of plans. I guess like anything, though, "doing it" is better than hemming and hawing about which one to do.

i was reading the bible that way last year...though on my own. i didn't know there was an actual set up way to do it - sweet!
thanks for the link...i think i'll work on this as well. reading through the bible entirely is still something i suck at when i try but lately i've had much more excitement about getting into it.

I know I've tried several times to read the Bible all the way through, starting in Genesis and just going through. I usually give up around Deuteronomy. :[
I actually found that plan two days ago and decided I wanted to try it. I was really excited by the fact that I could just subscribe to it and read it like I read blogs. :]

I've started that kind of reading plan a few times, but I always fizzle.

I found this site that combines the community aspect of the internet with reading the bible. It's pretty cool. They also have a read the bible in a year plan.

Christina, can you post a link to that plan. I want something like that. Something that I can subscribe to.

I looked at the one I'd linked to, ibs, and youversion (that Shannon linked). I liked youversion a lot, but have ended up adding IBS to the blog reader. Like Christina said, it's nice that the daily feeds will show up where I'm already doing lots of reading.
