no josh, he is the political messiah.
he is...i'm going to quit my job...and get ready to live the high life. funny...no one mentions all the bush tax cuts that helped the middle class? obama might just ride into the white house...but the road will be covered with the blood of unborn babies. how was that for subtle?

And, Klein, instead of Boyd...let's all read some John Locke!!! Think it will happen?????
Klein- I like what Boyd has to say about 2 kingdoms. But this is going to be a message about posture.
Paul was talking to Jews and Gentiles...I'm talking to Democrats and Republicans but I think his words are true for both...
Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. (Ephesians 4)
Not sure how well we've done with that. Should be interesting. I'd love feedback from the podcast.
i totally think, as believers, we should be united. we argue about too many theological things that get in the way. we also argue about too many political things that get in the way. my only problem is with the abortion issue. because it is beyond a political issue while still being a political issue i believe it can be addressed in love, but with a black/white stance Biblically. i don't want to hear political musings from the pulpit, whether they be ones i might agree with or not. the pulpit is for proclaiming the Gospel, not launching into political diatribes. but, with soo many Christians placing their support with obama i believe that because of his views on abortion (extreme views even for a democrat) they should be called out for it. a vote is an endorsement. it's saying "i agree with you more"...and we can all disagree on health care or gun control...those things are trivial. earthly. the issue of murder is not just earthly but heavenly as well. i'm not saying this to you dan...just in general. Christians can agree or disagree on policies...i love a good discussion, but i believe that what Christians do with the abortion issue is one with heavenly consequences. you are voting for someone who believes life is not important. it is a matter of ones character...and as believers we must call a spade a spade so to speak. hope that made some sense...

dan- curious about boyd's 2 kingdom theory...does he not believe that christ sits at the right hand of the father and reigns? does he feel that god or christ is some removed diety just watching us screw up the world? just curious...if so, seems like a weak and depressing view of the almighty.
that's not what he thinks Jeff. He talks about how we've taken the kingdom of this world and tried to attach God to it. But the kingdom of God looks nothing like the kingdom of this world. That's the heart of his book, "Myth of a Christian Nation." Good read.
there are things that boyd says that i tend to agree with...the church should not be politicized...but he lumps abortion into the political realm which is incorrect. by defining abortion as a political issue he has allowed "christians" to somehow think that abortion isn't important.
note: i know he is pro-life personally...i just think he has allowed a lot of believers to become deceived in their own abortion views and how they relate to the Church.

i totally disagree with your synopsis of boyds book.
are we called to be evangelical monastics? boyd does everything but wrap up the nice church-going folks in protective saran wrap so as to not get involved within "the world"...because it's fallen and horrible and it isn't our "realm".
so christians should sit out the abortion issue because, well, it's political and there is nothing we can do about it? i'd love a response...
