the curse of the keys

remember the post where I was talking about the simplicity of keys?
Yeah...I'm not that guy any more.
Now I have keys to:
Bechelli campus
2 keys to Eureka campus
new house
old house
mail
vespa
echo
vue
bike lock
church office
what happened?
Keys come with responsibility.
When you plant a church and don't have a lot of money and have the keys you:
Drive to the Naz with Nate on Saturday night at 8pm...
grab painting, mics, keyboard, drums, monitor, and mic stand...
take it to Eureka campus...
repeat next week!
We're trying to figure something out...
Anyone want my key? I'm willing to give it up :)
What do your keys say about you?

I know, crazy huh? Its amazing, that when you live a real life from out behind a pastor desk, its amazing how much life can not form to your "simply, slow down" way of thinking and preaching.
Now try this, you always talk about being simple and slowing down, so now try it. Now that you are busy because of the decision you have made, try slowing down now. Try getting those keys back down to 2.
Thats when your thoughts on a"simple" life will actually impact people.
I love when pastor live in there bubbles long enough to think that there lives are actually like non pastoral peoples lives.
Its so neat when people that are standing on boxes trying to lead actually realize where they are standing.
For they are not higher and better, just lonlier and trying to be different.
Leaders are not the ones on the boxes. Leaders are the ones leading in the crowd.

I have 9 keys. 2 car keys, 2 house keys, 1 mailbox, 1 association gate and 3 that I have no clue what they go to...but if I throw them away I know I will instantly need them! What does that say about me? Too lazy to go figure it out? I'll just go with forgetful.

man, i don't even want to talk about keys. I think i could anchor the Titanic with the boat anchor i haul around. It could use some serious trimming.

5 Keys.
I used to have a ton more.. apartment, car #1, car#2, church office, church meeting space. I used to have keys that I had no idea where they went to, but I got rid of them, and surprisingly enough I haven't needed them.

Dan it looks like you need a new key ring, and one word.. Carabiner! [that is where it is at]

Firstline. Jason Day will concur with me on this one.

Thousands of keys. That is not an exaggeration
